Hello! My name is Ashley and I am so excited to have you here, sharing this journey with me! Here at Living Empowered, we'll be talking about all of the ways we can, as individuals, take charge of our health, and happiness. I'll keep this post short and sweet and end with telling you a little about myself so you know who you're working with.
Like I said before, my name is Ashley. I am married to an amazing guy and we have two crazy, adorable children - a son who is five years old and a daughter who is two years old. (If I refer to them here, they will be called by my nicknames I have for them, Boop and Boogie, respectively.) I was born in South Carolina and have moved quite a bit in my life. Being a military brat does that to you, I suppose. We ended up in the beautiful state of Utah and we love it here! My wanderlust is getting the best of me, though, and I'm itching to move. We'll see if that happens.
Back on track!
My journey down a more natural living path started in about junior high school. My mom did a research project for one of her college classes and decided to cut cow milk from the household diet. That was a huge change for us. Everything just sort of snowballed from there. I didn't know I was "crunchy" until I was already knee-deep in it. (For those who don't know, "crunchy" refers to people who strive to live simpler, less toxic, minimally processed lives. For example, cloth diapering is considered a "crunchy" practice. The term started from hippies. Hippies eat granola. Granola is crunchy. Don't ask me why everyone sort of settled on that...) I have found that I tend to reject certain ideas and practices the first time they are presented to me or come to my attention. Sometimes it takes a couple or a dozen or more times for me to accept something as a good idea or as something I'd like to try. We all have a process. I remember thinking at one point that I would never be caught dead in skinny jeans. Eventually they grew on me and I bought a pair and decided they were not hideous. That is how my journey into a crunchy lifestyle has gone. I remember seeing something on Pinterest about the oil cleansing method and I thought "Whoa. I'm not THAT crunchy..." and after the sixth or seventh time it popped up in my life, I decided to try it. And I LOVE it. And then something else bleeps onto my radar and the pattern continues.
This was most definitely the case with essential oils. While I won't be solely focused on Essential Oil usage here, that will definitely be a recurring theme. I use them every single day and I cannot imagine a life without them. I am now a Wellness Advocate climbing the ranks within the doTERRA business structure. My goal here is not necessarily to get people to buy products. My goal is to EDUCATE and EMPOWER.
I am so excited for you to join me in this journey to live empowered and become a happier, healthier whole.
